Nigerian Players abroad Chukwueze Makes Late Cameo Appearance As Villarreal Pip Alaves 3-1

Samuel Chukwueze made a late minute cameo as Villarreal bounced back to winning ways following a 3-1 victory against Alaves on Wednesday. [][/]

Chukwueze who was benched by Unai Emery came in a a substitute for Moi Gomez in the 83 minutes.

After the game, Emery explained his decision not to start Chukwueze and also underlined the importance of the victory.

He said, “We have to be capable of playing in different systems. 

“We put Iborra, Manu, Parejo and Moi together, and they’re all very good with the ball. 

“On a general level, the team pleased me.

” We competed and Alavés only had real chances from set pieces. 

“Their goal came from an error. In the second half I liked that we were controlling the game, but we made two more mistakes. 

“We need to continue working hard.”

Emery also highlighted the importance of his strikers scoring and sharing goals.

“I like goals to be shared between all the players, but it is true that strikers live off goals. 

“We’re generating chances and that’s the path we should be following. 

“I’m satisfied with the work from all the team. 

“I need to hail the work of every player. 

“Even those who came on at the end were very good so Alavés didn’t have chances.

Brilliance is also in teamwork,” concluded Emery.

Villarreal are currently 4th in the La Liga table after four games.

Their next game will be a trip to the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday against Atletico Madrid.
