Europa League Etebo, Balogun Goes To War In Search Of Europa League Ticket

It will be a thug of war between Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo when Rangers hosts Galatasaray in the UEFA Europa League Play-Off at the Ibrox Stadium.

Etebo who joined Galatsaray on loan from Stoke City will be hoping to help his club pick the ticket for another European outing.

On the other side Balogun could feature for Rangers in his first European competition.

Galatasaray defeated Neftçi in the UEFA Europa League 2nd Preliminary Round and Hajduk Split in the UEFA Europa League 3rd Preliminary Round en route the last qualifier against Rangers.

The Turkish Super Lig will head to the game on the back of their unbeaten streak this season having won 4 games and 1 draw in the Turkish League.

Rangers on the other hand reached the play-off stage by beating Lincoln Red 5-0 in the UEFA Europa League 2nd Preliminary Round and 4-0 in the UEFA Europa League 3rd Preliminary Round.

They also remain unbeaten in the Scottish Premier League, with 7 wins and 2 draws.

Thursday’s meeting will be the third time both clubs will play against each other in the European Cups.

Galatasaray faced Rangers twice in the 2000-2001 Season Champions League group stage.

Turkish side won the first leg of the game while the second match, played at Ibrox Park, ended with 0-0.

The game will be officiated by Andris Treimanis from the Latvian Football Association and will be assisted by Haralds Gudermanis and Aleksejs Spasjonnikovs.

The fourth referee of the match will be Aleksandrs Golubevs.
