Super Eagles duo Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo missed out in action for their clubs in the Europa League qualifier game on Thursday, Africa Top Sports reports.

Etebo and Balogun were unused substitute as Rangers defeated Galatasaray 2-1 at the Ibrox Stadium to book their place in this year’s Europa League.

Etebo joined the Turkish Super Lig club was hoping to make his Europea competition debut but was not subbed in.

Same was his compatriot Balogun who was left out of the bench by Steven Gerrard.

Scott Arfield broke the deadlock for Rangers in the 52nd minute after the first half ended goalless.

James Tavenier doubled the lead for the Gerals seven minutes later to make it 2-0.

Marcao scored Galatasaray’s consulatory goal with three minutes left to end the game.

Etebo and his Galatasaray teammates will focus on their League game having crashed out of European competition this season.

Meanwhile, Balogun have the hope of playing in European competition for the first time this season following Rangers’ qualification.

Rangers will know their group opponents after the 2020/2021 Europa League group stage draws on Friday.
