Africa Mamelodi Sundowns : Fans Choose Manqoba Mngqithi To Take Over

Just three weeks ahead of the DStv Premiership start, Pitso Mosimane has abandoned Mamelodi Sundowns. The coach left and joined Egyptian giants Al Ahly on a two-year deal after eight seasons at South African side.

Mosimane’s resignation comes just four months after he signed his four-year contract extension with Masandawana. The club now will look to replace him in time for the start of 2020/21 campaign. Several names have been suggested. But both among fans and local football commentators, one name has emerged as a clear favourite to take the reigns.

Current assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi has been an integral part of Mosimane’s technical staff for the past seven seasons. And his work behind the scenes has earned high praise from the likes of former Downs coach Khabo Zondo who recently spoke to the press stating that the club will continue to enjoy success if they show faith in Mngqithi. Sundowns fans have also shared the same view in the latest episode of the SL Podcast’s “Fan Reaction Show”.
