Zambia FAZ vice president Rix Mweemba passed away after short illness

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) confirmed earlier on Tuesday the death of it vice president Rix Mweemba after a short period of illness at Coptic Hospital in Lusaka.

Before being appointed vice president of Football Association of Zambia, Rix Mweemba has been treasurer of FAZ and has reportedly played a key role in the restructuring of Zambia Premier League as chairperson.

FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala hailed the late vice president saying his commitment during his living time can not be doubted.

“The Football Association of Zambia is mourning the loss of a dedicated and a respected servant of Zambian football. Mr Mweemba struck us as an admirable family man. His great work ethics and selflessness cannot be doubted,” he said in a report of Mwebantu.

“We regret to announce the death of the FAZ vice president Rix Mweemba. He was a true soldier and servant of the game. Go well veep!” FAZ wrote on Social media.

In addition, Zambia will play a friendly game against Kenya on Friday, October 9, 2020.
