Black Stars boss CK Akonnor could have peace of mind as Ghana defeat in a convincing way Qatar (5-1) on Monday afternoon at the Titanic Stadium in Antalya, Stadium.

First win for CK Akonnor as Black Stars coach, and also first victory for Ghana since November last year (1-0 to Sao Tome and Principe). After having suffered a couple of critics following their disappointing 3-0 to Mali on Friday.

Brentford’s Tariqe Fosu gave the lead to Black Stars at the 22nd minute after an impressive at the right wing of Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew. However, the team lost- concentration few minutes prior to the half-time as Almoez Ali equalised for Qatar following a misscomunication between centre-backs and Richard Abalora. Both teams drew 1-1 to enter the locker room.

In the second half, Black Stars were more disciplined tactically and this got them the lead as Swansea City star Andre Ayew scored the second goal at the 63rd minute.

Samuel Owusu, very explosive in the game, found the net two minutes later to hand Ghana their third goal. Before captain Andre Ayew scored his brace through a header after a good work of his brother Jordan.

Second-half substitute Caleb Ekuban completed Black Stars display and scored the fifth goal at the 87th minute.

With an impressive second half, Ghana deservedly won it to 5-1 over Qatar pending their double header against Sudan in November for 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers.£
