African players abroad Traore Stars As Ajax Trounce VVV-Venlo To Set Another Eredivisie Record

Burkinabe forward Lassina Traore stole the headlines scoring five goals as Ajax set another Dutch Eredivisie record in their 13-0 win against VVV-Venlo.
Traore became the first Ajax player in Eredivisie to score five goals after 35 years.
He also equalled Frenkie de Jong three assists in a league match since 2017.

Ajax after narrowly losing the uefa Champions League opener at home to Liverpool, focused travelled to Covebo Stadion- de Koel.
It was glaring from the start that it will be a one sided game.
Just 12 minutes of play, Traore provided and assist for Jurgen Ekkelenkamp to break the deadlock.
Five minutes later Traore scored to double the lead for the visitors before he scored his second in the 32 minutes to make it 3-0.
Traore scored his hat trick in the 54th minute before providing the second assist of the game for Anthony to score.
In the 59th minute he set up Daley Blind to make it 8-0 after Dusan Tadic and Ekkenlenkamp had scored.
The Burkinabe forward his fourth and fifth goal in the 65th and 87th minute respectively.

The resounding victory saw Ajax break their 48 years record.
In 1972, Ajax thrashed Vitesse 12-1 in the Eredivisie and since that record has remained until Saturday’s 13-0 away win against VVV-Venlo.
