Africa Soccer Infantino mourns Zambian midfielder

Fifa boss Gianni Infantino has joined the Zambian football fraternity in mourning Nkana midfielder Chrispine Mulenga who died on Monday.

Mulenga died a day after being involved in a car accident while travelling to Ndola on Sunday night. He had participated in Zoom Charity Shield that weekend.

In a letter addressed to Football Association of Zambia president Andrew Kamanga, Infantino said he was deeply saddened by Mulenga’s death.

 “I would like to express my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the tragic passing of the young Nkana FC player, Chrispine Mulenga, after being involved in a road traffic accident last Sunday. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for the loss,” Infantino says.

“On behalf of FIFA and the international football community, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Football Association of Zambia, Nkana FC, and most importantly, to Chrispine’s family, teammates, friends, and loved ones. Our thoughts are with all of you.”

Chrispine was laid to rest on Wednesday October 28, 2020 in Luanshya.
