AFCON Mo Salah ‘proud’ to match Gerrard’s goal record with Liverpool in UCL

By scoring on Tuesday in Liverpool’s 5-0 thriller against Atalanta, Mohamed Salah has matched Steven Gerrard goal record in the UEFA champions league with the Reds.

The Egyptian forward then, shared delight after this new milestone with the Anfield outfit.

Salah, 28, becomes the second ever Liverpool player to score 21 goals in the UCL. So far, former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, was the top scorer. Now, Mo is expected to go beyond that performance of the current Celtic Rangers coach.

“Of course I’m very happy to be the highest one. Steven Gerrard is a legend for the club. It’s something I’m very proud of,” he said.

“But as I’ve said before, the most important thing is the team. So I’m happy to score goals to help the team to win games, that’s the most important thing.”

In addition, Liverpool are currently on top of their group with nine points keeping three clean sheets in all their matches. While Ajax, second, have just 4, same as Atalanta, when Midtjylland are still in the quest of their first point in this campaign. Reds will make a trip on Sunday to Manchester, as they face City in the Premier League.
