AFCON AFCON: Equatorial Guinea get their first win

Equatorial Guinea beat Libya 3-2 at Al-Ahly Stadium, Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday night for their first win of group J of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The win by the visitors left the group wide open as Equatorial Guinea now have three points, at par with Libya and Tanzania whereas Tunisia lead with six points.

During the match, Josete Miranda scored in the 33rd minute for Equatorial Guinea to lead at half time 1-0.

However, in second half Libya looked a changed side, little wonder Sanad Al Warfari equalised in the 55th minute from the penalty spot following a rough challenge.

Three minutes later, Mohamed Bettamer put Libya ahead only for Petro Obiang to level matters for Equatorial Guinea, taking advantage of sloppy defending from Libya.

Eventually, Equatorial Guinea took advantage of the weary Libya defence to score the winner in added time through Salomon Obama Ondo.
