AFCON SOUTH AFRICA: Bafana Bafana beat Principle Sao Tome

South Africa boosted their chances of qualifying for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals after beating Principe Sao Tome 2-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, on Friday night.

Belgium-based Percy Tau converted from the penalty spot after break when he went down before Bongani Zungu headed in the second from Keegan Dolly’s cross with a minute to full-time.

Bafana Bafana remain on second place of group C with six points from two games, three points behind leaders Ghana. Principe Sao Tome are winless in three games.

South Africa will enjoy more home ground advantage as Principe Sao Tome agreed to have their home match played also at Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Monday.

Before the game, South Africa coach Molefi Ntseki has been under pressure to deliver the goods following recent uninspiring performances.

In another match for the group, Sudan host Ghana in Khartoum on Monday.

The Black Stars beat Sudan 2-0 on Wednesday night in the first leg match.
