AFCON AFCON 2021 Matchday 4: Mane Fires Senegal To Cameroon 2021

The quest for a place in the group stage of the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)scheduled to be hosted in Cameroon continued on Sunday with the second leg of the qualifiers.
 
Barely 24 hours after Match Day 3 was rounded up, teams who played earlier resumed hostility as Match Day 4 will end November 17.
 
Africa Top Sports monitored all the games played on Sunday which was the first games of Match Day 4 as Senegal extended their unbeaten streak.
 

Guinea Bissau 0-1 Senegal

Senegal became the first team to pick the 2021 AFCON ticket following a 1-0 win against Guinea Bissau in Group I.
 
Sadio Mane lone goal in the 82 minutes was able to hand the Teranga Lions the maximum three points against a resilient Guinea Bissau side.
 

With 12 points from four matches, the worst they can finish with two matches remaining is second and that means they have already earned their ticket to Cameroon.

Chad 1-1 Guinea

 
In Group A, Guinea edged closer to picking their ticket for the continental showpiece in 2021as they claimed a point against Chad.
 

Naby Keita scored for Guinea in the 24th minute to give Guinea the lead in N’Djamena. 

Chad equalized through Ahmat Abdaraman at the stroke of halftime. 

The game ended 1-1 as Guinea remain top of Group A with eight points, while Chad pick their first point of the qualifiers.

Equitorial Guinea 1-0 Libya

Equatorial Guinea restored their hope of reaching the 2021 competition as they completed the double against Libya in Bata.

The 2015 AFCON host raised their Group J tally to six points and are currently in second place.

Ivan Edu 27th minute goal was all the Nzalang Nacional needed to keep hope alive .

They are three points behind leaders Tunisia who face Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam on Tuesday. 

Libya and Tanzania follow in that order with three points each in the group.

Comoros Island 2-1 Kenya

In Group G, Island nation, Comoros are not relenting in their quest to qualify to their first ever AFCON tournament.

Faiz Mattoir late minute goal was enough to hand Comoros the three points against Kenya.

Cliff Nyakeya put the Islaners in front before his goal was cancelled out El Fardou Ben’s but Mattoir strike made it  2-1 in Moroni.

They now top the group with 8 points ahead of Egypt who are second with 5 points with a game at hand.

Kenya remained third with three points and are now left with a mountain to climb if they are to make it to a second consecutive Cup of Nations.

Burundi 3-1 Mauritania 

Burundi picked their first win in the 2021 AFCON qualifier with a 3-1 win in Bujumbura against Mauritania to keep their hope alive in Group E.

After holding Mauritania to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in Nouakchott, the Swallows then went ahead to claim their first win at home .

Saidi Ntibazokinza was Burundi’s shining light as the striker scored twice with Youssouf Ndayishimiye Also on the score sheet for Burundi.

Mauritania’s single strike was scored by Niass Amadou.

Despite the loss, Mauritania are still second in Group E, two points from top of the table leader, Morocco.

Burundi have four points with two games wrap up the qualifier.
