Tanzania under-17 women’s football team has reportedly been rewarded with $15,000 for winning the Cosafa Championship in South Africa last week.
Tanzania’s Daily News has reported that Saidia Taifa Stars Special Committee rewarded the girls, who beat Zambia 4-3 on post-match penalty shoot-outs to lift the championship. The ceremony took place on Monday in Tanzania.
The two teams drew 1-1 in regulation time to pave the way for the penalties in Port Elizabeth.
The committee was reportedly formed to drum up support to the national teams so as to ensure their success.
