African players abroad UEFA confirms PSG, Basaksehir game to be concluded on Wednesday

 
 

 

UEFA has confirmed that the remainder of the the Champions League game between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir  will be concluded on Wednesday with new officials.

Players of both teams walked out of the pitch following racism statement by the fourth official.
 
Chaos erupted when Basaksehir assistant manager Pierre Webo was sent off by the referee.
 
He claimed that fourth official Sebastian Coltescu had used a racist term against him.
 
Basaksehir striker, Demba Ba confronted the match official to question him for using racist comment.
 

The former Newcastle and Chelsea man said: “You never say this white guy, you say this guy.

“So why when you mention me […] listen to me, why when you mention a black guy, you have to say this black guy?”

 
Basaksehir players began to leave the pitch before they were joined by PSG players in solidarity against racism.
 
The game was then suspended when it was still first half at the Parc des Princes.
 
UEFA in a statement said the game will be replayed at 5:55pm UK time with new match officials.
 
Paris Saint-Germain will play the remainder of their Champions League match against Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday.
 

“UEFA has also confirmed that a new team of match officials will be brought in for the clash, which will kick-off at 5:55pm UK time.

“UEFA is aware of an incident during tonight’s Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir and will be conducting a thorough investigation.

 “Racism, and discrimination in all its forms, has no place within football,”the statement concluded.
