Egypt Egyptian Premier League : Al Ahly Were Too Strong For Ghazi El Mahalla

Al Ahly won over Ghazi El Mahalla in their Egyptian Premier League game. The Egyptian giants were far too strong for Ghazi El Mahalla winning 3-0 in Mosimane’s absence on Friday. Al Ahly proved they could win without coach Pitso Mosimane when they made it two victories from as many matches to start their Egyptian Premier League season.

With Mosimane having tested positive for the Covid-19, Al Ahly had assistant coach Cavin Johnson in the dugout.

The scores were deadlocked at 0-0 at half-time. But in the second half Al Ahly found their goal-scoring touch.

Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring in the 49th minute. And Mahmoud Kahraba doubled their lead in the 69th minute.

Al Ahly were in cruise control at that stage. But Sherif bagged his brace in the 80th minute when he reacted first to Mohamed Magdy’s pass before tapping into an unguarded net to wrap up another impressive win.

Al Ahly will next be in action in the CAF Champions League with a first leg, first round match away to Niger side SONIDEP. It will be on Wednesday, December 23 at 14:00 GMT.

Following that match, Al Ahly will conclude their 2020 league commitments with a mouth-watering match against fellow Egyptian giants Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday, December 28 at 17:30 GMT.

Al Ahly beat Zamalek in the recent final of the 2019 CAF Champions League.
