CAF Champions League CAFCC: Aguda, Omoniwari score as Rivers United be at Celtic 2-0

Rivers United continued their impressive away win in the CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-0 win against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side were in total control of the game from the onset.

In the opening minute, they had threatened their host flashes of brilliant touches and shots on target.

But the DSTV Premiership side were able to keep the visitors from scoring as the first half ended goalless.

In the 70th minute diminutive midfielder Godwin Aguda broke the deadlock for Rivers United.

It was the third consecutive goal by former Rangers player for Rivers in the CAF Confederation Cup.

 

Aguda scored the curtain-raiser in the 70th minute following a long period of dominance by the Nigerians.

With ten minutes to end of the game, Omoniwari put an icing to the cake to make it 2-0.

Rivers United will now head to the second leg with 2-0 in the bag when they host the South African side in Port Harcourt.

In other games played on Wednesday, four teams won away from home including Rivers United.

There was only one draw with three home victories recorded and a total of 14 goals scored.

TAS 4-0 win against ESAE was the highest win of the day while Tevragh-Zeina goalless at home against RS Berkane was the only draw of the game.
