Bakry had contracted COVID-19 and spent a week in quarantine before unfortunately passing away due to the virus on Thursday morning.

The committee in charge of Zamalek and all employees of the club offer their sincere condolences to the family of Ahmed Bakry, head of the committee in charge of managing the club, who passed away this morning.” Zamalek said in a statement.

Vice president of Zamalek’s committee in charge of the club, Hisham Ibrahim, will now lead the Whites on an interim basis until Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi announces a new president.
