African players abroad Ahmed Hegazi to be sidelined with Ittihad Jeddah due to injury

Egyptian centre-back Ahmed Hegazi is ruled with injury at Al-Ittihad Jeddah following their draw against Al Hilal in the Saudi Professional League.

Hegazi joined Ittihad Jeddah on loan from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion two months ago with a permanent deal to be agreed next summer.

The defender is performing with his side but is now set to miss some games.

“Ahmed Hegazi underwent scans after due to the pain he felt after the end of yesterday’s game,” Ittihad said in a statement on Sunday after the 1-1 draw to Al Hilal on matchday 10.

“Scans showed the player’s need for a rehabilitation program and a medical follow-up on his treatment before he is allowed to return to training.”

The time he will spend outside the field is yet to be known but he will surely the next game of Al-Ittihad against Al-Batin on Thursday, December 31.
