Africa Soccer Farouk wants teammates to draw lesson from Al Merrikh game

Enyimba midfielder Farouk Mohammed has urged his teammates to draw lessons from difficult moments and challenge themselves to higher achievements amidst challenges.

Enyimba will begin the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign against city rivals, Abia Warriors on today.

Having suffered a 3-0 loss to Al Merrikh in the first leg of the CAF Champions League in Sudan, the People’s Elephant need to use the game against Abia Warriors as a morale booster when they play at home.

Their Ghanaian import midfielder Farouk who captained the team in Omdurman following the absence of captain Austin Oladapo, is confidence the loss was a wake up call.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday NPFL game, the midfielder said even the biggest team do suffer loss.

This kind of results come once in a while.

“Even the biggest teams sometimes suffer such defeats, but it is all about how you handle it.

“We are experienced players and we know if we continue to believe in ourselves and not dwell so much on it, it can motivate us to go on a good run.

“The coaches have been speaking to us, counselling us to remain optimistic, and if every player can handle it that way, then we can bounce back easily.

“Abia Warriors is not an easy game but we have to start from there.

“We have to start to build our confidence and return to winning ways because the league will be very competitive this season.”

The game between Enyimba and Abia Warriors will come up 4pm and can be viewed on NTA and NPFL.tv.
