Egypt Egypt FA Suspend Pyramids Forward Mahmoud Wadi In Addition To Hefty Fine

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have handed a hefty fine to the Pyramids forward Mahmoud Wadi. This has been coupled with a suspension.

The Cairo-based side had earned a dramatic 3-2 win over Entag El-Harby in the Egyptian Premier League’s fifth round on Friday.

Abdallah El-Said opened the scoring for Pyramids before Entag’s Moaz El-Henawy grabbed the equalizer from a spot-kick at the stroke of half time.

Entag managed to take the lead in the second half as late goals from Ramadan Sobhi and Eric Traore secured the win and three points for Pyramids.

The game saw referee Mahmoud Nagi reach for his back pocket twice. As he sent off Entag winger Mamadou Niass and Pyramids’ summer signing Mahmoud Wadi.

Wadi was shown a red card for a rash challenge late in the game. And the Palestinian forward allegedly insulted the referee according to the EFA.

As a result, the EFA handed Wadi a fine of EGP 100,000. As well as an eight-game suspension for his actions on Friday.

Pyramids have come out with a statement denying the allegations made by the EFA and could appeal their decision.
