Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : BAROKA FC COACH FUMES AFTER 2-2 STALEMATE

Baroka FC coach Matsemela Thoka has said he is disappointed that his charges surrendered a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium.

The DStv Premiership match was played at Mbombela Stadium in South Africa on Tuesday.

Thoka said this after Gerald Phiri Junior and Ananias Gebhardt’s goals had put Baroka ahead, only for Shaun Mogaila and Mxolisi Macuphu to wipe out the lead and secure a point for Galaxy.

Thoka told Sowetan newspaper that he was unhappy with the manner in which his side conceded the two goals.

“It is very disappointing on our side, but it is football, and we are learning in a hard way. Imagine we were leading 2-0, and we ended up giving away those two goals, and they equalised. It is all about managing the game. Sometimes footballers must understand to manage the game,” Thoka told Sowetan newspaper.

“We are leading 2-0, and we need to manage the game. You can’t play the same way while you have that kind of a lead, playing as if you need another goal while we have something in our hands.

“This must be different, but we have youngsters who are learning. For us, we take what happened and move on. We now think about the upcoming game because you can’t cry about what happened. There is life after that, so we need to move on and think about the next match on Saturday against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Baroka next face league leaders Sundowns this weekend.

Sundowns lead the 16-member log table with 21 points from nine games whereas Baroka have 12 points and they have played nine matches.

Black Leopards anchor the table with five points from eight games whereas Galaxy are placed on 11th place with eight points from nine games.
