CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAF Presidency : Jacques Anouma And Augustin Senghor Authorized

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Committee met this week. And the committee clarified on the application of each candidate running for the African football governing body presidency. The new president will stand for a four-term period.

CAF Committee has authorized Ivorian Jacques Anouma and Senegalese Augustin Senghor to run for the next CAF elections.

Following Ahmad’s FIFA ban, the Malagasy was deemed ineligible for the upcoming elections. While the Governance Committee has cleared South African Motsepe and Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya after meeting at the CAF headquarters this week, 5 and 6 January.

The meeting in Cairo president Michel Kizito Brizoua-Bi chaired resulted in the duo being deemed ‘admissible’ to stand for African football’s top job.

However, in a statement CAF released, both Motsepe and Yahya will undergo further checks before a final decision is made.

“Their candidatures were deemed admissible. However, the committee considered that further checks are necessary before a final decision. To this end, a hearing of these candidates will be organised in Cairo on 28 January 2021.” Read the statement.

Augustin Emmanuel Senghor, the president of the Senegal FA, and Ivorian FA president Jacques Bernard Daniel Anouma are the only names to appear on the list of candidates after the committee ruling.

CAF will elect Ahmad’s successor as well as a new executive committee at the 43rd Elective Ordinary General Assembly. Meeting to take place on 12th March in Rabat, Morocco.

Togolese Lawson Hogban-Latré-Kayi is authorized as well as 12 other people to be on the list of candidates for the election of the CAF Executive Committee members.
