Al Ahly top the Egyptian Premier League table as they defeated Ceramica Cleopatra 2-0 on the 5th matchday. The Reds got their first chance of the game in the 20th minute when Badr Banoun received Ali Maaloul’s corner inside the penalty area. But the Moroccan’s shot was saved.
Al Ahly continued their dominance and in the 34th minute, Dieng took a powerful shot that grazed the right post.
For Ceramica Cleopatra, their first clear cut chance came two minutes before the half-time whistle. Shady Hussein took a shot in the near post. But Mohamed El-Shennawy was able to clear off the danger.
Ten minutes into the second-half Mahmoud Kahraba received the ball just outside the penalty area. And he took a brilliant shot. But Amer Amer was there to save it.
In the 62nd minute, Hussein El-Shahat played a brilliant ball to Ali Maaloul inside the penalty area. But the Tunisian’s strike went over the crossbar.
Al Ahly finally opened the scoring in the 79th minute. As Mahmoud Kahraba put it inside the net following Mohamed Magdy Afsha’s cross.
Moments before the final whistle Walid Soliman doubled the score with a powerful header.
