African players abroad Al Ahly Striker Aliou Badji Officially On Loan Move To MKE Ankaragücü

Al Ahly officially announced their striker Aliou Badji completed loan move to Turkish club MKE Ankaragücü. This loan deal includes an option to buy.

The Senegalese forward had only joined Al Ahly last January from Austrian club Rapid Vienna for a fee of around €2.00m.

Badji had an excellent start to his career in Egypt, scoring and assisting on his league debut against Pyramids FC. As well as winning a vital penalty against Mamelodi Sundowns, just minutes after coming on.

However, following the departure of René Weiler, the coach who asked for his signing, Badji fell down the pecking order. And he was left out of the club’s squad for the 2020/21 season.

This came after the return of the likes of Mohamed Sherif, Salah Mohsen, and Ahmed Yasser Rayan from their loan spells as well as the signing of Walter Bwayla.

And last month, Al Ahly announced that Badji is set to depart for an unnamed Turkish club. As they revealed it in the name of MKE Ankaragücü.

Ankaragücü sign Badji in hope he could help them survive relegation. As they currently sit 20th with 15 points, four away from safety.

He becomes the club’s third winter signing. And he’ll play alongside the likes of Ghana’s Joseph Paintsil, Assane Dioussé, Jonathan Bolingi, Tiago Pinto, Poland international Michal Pazdan.

Overall, Badji has scored four goals while assisting eight in 25 games, helping the Reds achieve the treble in his only season with the club.
