Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : GABADINHO RULED OUT AGAIN THROUGH INJURY

Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango’s dream of retaining the DStv Premiership Golden Boot Award hangs in the balance, as he has been ruled out for two weeks.

Orlando Pirates FC have confirmed today Friday that Mhango will miss up to four games after suffering from a muscle injury during a goalless draw against unbeaten Golden Arrows on Tuesday night.

The first team has been dealt a blow ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United with Gabadinho Mhango ruled out of the match due to injury,” reads an update from the Buccaneers.

According to the Bucs medical team, the Malawian international picked up a quad strain in the goalless draw against Golden Arrows on Wednesday and is expected out for up to two weeks,” Pirates says in a statement.

Mhango, who won the 2020 Golden Boot Award jointly with Namibian Peter Shalulile with 16 goals last season, has only managed two league goals this season, eight behind leading marksman Bradley Glober of SuperSport United.

The former BidVest Wits forward returned to action a few weeks ago after being sidelined for a month with another injury.

The Malawian’s injury has left Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer scratching his head, as he has limited options upfront with Terrence Dzvukamanja and Jean-Marc Makusu as the only strikers available.

Other strikers Tshegofatso Mabasa, Zakhele Lepasa, Paseka Mako and Abel Mabaso are out through injuries.
