Africa Soccer NPFL: Nwagua’s goal down Rivers United in Kaduna

 
Nwagua Nyima’s 19th minute goal handed Kano Pillars a 1-0 victory against Rivers United in the last game of the NPFL Matchday 6 tie.
 
Rivers United fresh from their CAF Confederation win against Bloemfontein Celtic were targeting a win against the MaSuGida in Kaduna.
 
The game was sparked into life in the 20th minute as Nwagua scored to give the host the lead.
 
The goal was a shot in the arm for Rivers who began to push for an equalizer but to no avail as Nwagua’s own goal made the difference heading to the break.

In the 51st minute, Kano Pillars were reduced to 10-men after Abbas Rabiu got a straight red card for deliberate ball handling. 
 
 
The visitors tried to capitalize on their numbers as Stanley Eguma made a double substitutions bringing Bobby Clement and Nelson Esor Okwa on for Konan Ruffin and Stephen Gopey.
 
All effort to equalized proved abortive as Kano Pillars held tenaciously to the victory.
 
 
The MaSuGida with the victory now e victory now moved up to 5th on the log.
 
They will be away to Akwa United on Matchday 7.
 
For Rivers United, they are now two points behind Nasarawa United who currently top the table.
