CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CHAN 2020 Group stage round up in numbers

Intrugues, suspense, heartbreak and fun characterized the group stage of the ongoing Total African Nations Championship in Cameroon which was concluded on Wednesday.
The 2020 Total CHAN is the 7th edition of the tournament which is played by home-based African players playing in various leagues across the continent.
This year’s edition saw countries football powers like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Senegal and Tunisia all missing out.
Sixteen countries were grouped into four with host Cameroon pitched in Group A while defending champions, Morocco in Group C.

A total of 24 games was played with 46 goals scored in the group stage as eight teams booked their place in the quarterfinal including two-times record champions DR Congo.

Only Mali, DR Congo, Morocco, Guinea and Zambia won two games in their group respectively out of the 16 teams.
Zimbabwe, Libya, Togo, Namibia, Niger exited the tournament without winning a single game.
Out of the 24 games 14 games ended in a win while 10 games ended in stalemate.
Here are the statistics of the Total CHAN 2020 tournament group stage.
1- Number of goals scored by different players in the tournament.
Twenty-seven players have found the net in the group stage games.
They are; Claver Kiendrébéogo, Issiaka Ouedraogo, Issouf Sosso (Burkina Faso), Mapata Mouandza, Gautrand Ngouonimba (Congo), Kadima Kabangu, Chico Kubanza (DR Congo), Morlaye Sylla (Guinea), Moataz Al-Mehdi (Libya), Siaka Bagayoko, Demba Diallo, Issaka Samaké (Mali), Ayoub El Kaabi, Hamza El Moussaoui, Yahya Jabrane (Morocco), Olivier Niyonzima, Ernest Sugira, Jacques Tuyisenge (Rwanda), Baraka Majogoro, Edward Charles Manyama, Farid Mussa (Tanzania), Bilali Akoro (Togo), Ibrahim Orit (Uganda), Emmanuel Chabula, Spencer Sautu, Collins Sikombe (Zambia), Partson Jaure (Zimbabwe).
1.9-This is the number of goals per games as the tournament recorded lessgoals in the group stage.
 
2-Only two teams scored the highest numbers of goals. They are Morocco and Guinea who scored six goals apiece in the group stage.
 
 Seven players have scored two goals for their country in the group stage.
 
They are; Salomon Charles Banga (Cameroon), Masasi Obenza (DR Congo), Victor Kantabadouno (Guinea), Soufiane Rahimi (Morocco), Mossi Issa Moussa (Niger), Richard Nane (Togo), Saidi Kyeyune (Uganda).
3-Guinean player Yakhouba Gnagna Barry is the player with the highest number of goals in the group stage.
He scored three goals for his side.
Also three teams finished the group stage with the least goal conceded.
Mali, Cameroon, Zambia all conceded just one goal.
5-Mali, DR Congo, Morocco, Guinea, Zambia are the only team’s with the highest win.
Zimbabwe, Niger, Libya, Togo, Namibia failed to reach the last eight after failing to win any group game.
They qualified to the quarter final winning two of their group games.
7- Seven games ended with just 1-0 which happens to also be the most repeated result of the tournament.
The 5-2 win by Morocco against Guinea group stage is the only game with seven goals.
Also Uganda 7 goals they conceded place them as the team with the most goal conceded in the group stage.
10-Ten games ended in a draw
14-Out of the 24 group games played,            14 ended in a win.
24- Twenty-four games were played in the group stage by 16 teams.
46- Total of goals scored in the group stage.
