Ismaily made a host of summer signings that did not pay dividends. They need Jovic to make a drastic impact if they are to get back on track.

The 57-year-old takes over following a tumultuous period for Ismaily. Club that two caretaker managers have guided since they sacked Brazilian coach Heron Ferreira in December. This following two draws and a defeat in their opening three league games.

Jovic has a great desire to turn around the fortunes of Ismaily.” The club, which did not disclose the deal’s details, said in a statement.

The three-time champions lie second from bottom in the league table with seven points from eight matches.

They have opened talks with Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek to sign some of their out-of-favour players on loan, although no deals have materialised yet.

Jovic began his managerial career in his homeland, where he led Bosnia’s Zrinjski Mostar to the domestic league title in 2009.

He enjoyed a highly successful spell with Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto in recent years. Guiding them to three league titles and two cup triumphs.
