African players abroad Liverpool : Jürgen Klopp issues Joel Matip injury update

Joel Matip

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp provided an update on the injury of Cameroon centre-back Joel Matip as he picked up a ligament damage against Tottenham.

Matip, 29, was forced to leave his teammates after 45 minutes against Spurs due to an injury, handing Nathaniel Phillips a non-expected quick second half appearance.

His coach Klopp said the specialist is yet to finalize the diagnosis before they can know what to do.

Moreover, he refused to talk a possible move for Preston defender Ben Davies though Liverpool Echo evokes a £2million agreement for the 25-year-old centre-back to make his way to Anfield.

“With Joel we don’t have the final diagnosis,” Klopp said.

“Specialists must have a look and stuff like this until we know exactly.

“And on transfer things, we don’t say anything, so nothing to say about it until something is done, if something is done.
