News NPFL MATCHDAY 7: Rivers United back to top as Sunshine cripple Rangers

Eight teams won at  home as two games ended in a goalless draw on Matchday 7 of the NPFL as Rivers United returned to top of the summit.
 
Matchday 7 of the NPFL saw a total of 14 goals scored with five of the games ended 1-0.
 
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt Rivers United returned to winning ways following a 1-0 win against Adamawa United.

A 53rd minute goal scored by Fortune Omoniwari was all the Pride of Rivers needed to bounce back to winning ways after losing to Kano Pillars in Matchday 6.
 
Earlier on Friday, Plateau United brought Nasarawa United six games unbeaten run to and end.
 
Sunshine Stars recorded the highest win of Matchday 7 as they trounced visiting Enugu Rangers 3-1 at the Akure Township Stadium.
 
In-form forward Sadeeq Yusuf put Gbenga Ogunbote side in front just 24 minutes of play.
 
Fuad Ekelojuoti doubled the lead for the ‘Owena Wave’ 10 minutes later.
 
Rangers reduced the deficit through Godspower Aniefiok who headed home a Dauda Madaki’s freekick before the hour mark.
 
Udechukwu’s set piece goal damped Rangers hope of a possible come back.
 
 
Heartland FC quest to get their first away point continues as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Jigawa Golden Stars in Kaduna.
 
Elsewhere in Aba, Tosin Omoyele scored his first goal for Enyimba since he joined the club turned out to be the winner against Katsina United.
 
Tosin had earlier failed to score from the spot but amended his errors netting the decisive goal on the brink of first half.
 
Warri Wolves suffered a consecutive defeat following their 2-0 loss to Dakkada FC at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
 
A brace from Aniekan Ekpe handed the Akwa-Ibom based club the points to bounce back to winning ways.
 
 
Also on Saturday at the Nest of Champions, Akwa United defeated Kano Pillars to give Kennedy Boboye a breather.
 
FC IfeanyiUbah picked their first win after failing to do so in their last three games.
 
The Nnewi based club defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 courtesy of a 17th minute goal scored by Ugochukwu Ifejiofor.
 
At the Agege Stadium, Dele Aiyenugba was impressive for Kwara United who held MFM FC to a goalless draw.
 
It was his fourth clean sheet of the season for the Afonja Warriors.
 
Also at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, Abia Warriors held Lobi Stars to a goalless draw.
