Africa Soccer RWANDA : MUKURA FC HUNT FOR NEW COACH

Rwanda Premier League side Mukura Victory Sports are hunting for a replacement of axed French coach Djilali Bahloul.

Mukura sacked the Frenchman last month following poor performances in the early stages of the league which has since been shelved.

He did not finish his two-year contract he signed with the club after succeeding Tony Hernandez in September last year.

Bahloul failed to win in three games of the opening rounds of the season. Mukura lie bottom of the log table with just one point.

Mukura technical director Jerome Gasana told Rwanda Times newspaper that they have started receiving applications from prospective coaches.

“When we looked at his CV, we were so impressed and excited that we had got a perfect coach for our team but we are later disappointed by his performance. To be honest, we were not convinced by his coaching methods,” Gasana told the newspaper.

Mukura are based Butare and won the 2018 cup. They were founded in May 1963 and play their home games at Stade Huye

We want a coach who meets our club’s philosophy. That’s why we are searching for a new head coach and we hope to finalise his appointment before the league resumes.”

On February 1 2021, Mukura announced the temporary layoff of its players and coaching staff until league resumes.

The Ministry of Sports suspended football action in Rwanda in December 2020 due to an increase in coronavirus cases.

The suspension happened after 12 players and members of staff for Rayon Sports tested positive for Covid-19.
