Africa Soccer FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP : WE HAVE A TOUGH TASK AHEAD—AL AHLY PLAYER

Al Ahly attacker, Taher Mohamed Taher, has described their forthcoming third-place play off against Brazil’s Palmeiras at the Fifa Club World Cup on Thursday in Qatar as tough.

“We have a tough game ahead of us. I hope that we win and get the bronze medal and make our fans happy,” he is quoted saying.

Taher spoke to Al Ahly website after their 2-0 loss to FC Bayern Munich in the semi-finals on Monday evening.

He said they did their best to prepare for Bayern but the German champions won the semi-final out of sheer class and quality.

“We tried to do our best during the attacking and defensive phases. However, the two mistakes that we committed made us concede two goals.”

Moreover, we tried to press their defensive line in the second half but we were unable to score. We will learn from our mistakes in the next match against Brazil’s Palmeiras,”

The African champions’ loss on Monday evening saw Bayern proceeding to the final to face Tigres while Al Ahly will contest for a third place.

Robert Lewandowski scored both goals to hand Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane his first defeat since he joined Al Ahly from South Africa champions Mamelodi Sundowns
