News Rohr back to Nigeria ahead AFCON Qualifier

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is back in Nigeria ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Rohr arrived back to the country to put things in order as he will soon release his squad for the double header.

Super Eagles will take on the Squirrels on March 23 in Cotonou and then host Lesotho at home five days later.

The Super Eagles beat Benin 2-1 in their first meeting and also edged out Lesotho 4-2 in Maseru on matchday two.

Nigeria failed to book their place with games to spare after they were held 4-4 by Sierra Leone in Benin City before another goalless draw in Freetown   in the qualifier last November.

A point in the remaining two fixtures will be enough for the three-time African champions to book a place in the competition that will be hosted by Cameroon.

Nigeria top Group L with 8 points and are closely followed by Benin Republic who have 7 points.

Sierra Leone have 3 points while Lesotho rock bottom of the group with 2 points.
