Africa Soccer MALAWI : MOLDOVA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS SIGN MALAWIAN BANDA

Moldova Premier League champions, Sheriff Tisapol FC, have signed Peter Banda, Malawi Player of the Year 2019, from Nyasa Big Bullets.

The management of FC Sheriff made a decision to sign a labour agreement with the striker of the Malawi national team, Peter Banda . The parties signed a labour agreement, and Peter became part of the large family of FC Sheriff.

“At 18 years and 8 months, he made his debut for the national team of his country, for which he managed to play 5 matches, the last of which was in November 2020 against Burkina Faso in the qualifying round for the African Cup of Nations (0:0). In this offseason, the Banda managed to play in 3 of the first team’s four test matches, in which he scored 2 assists.
The team of FC “Sheriff” is glad to welcome Peter and wish him great success in the yellow and black T-shirt of our club,” Sheriff website says.

Banda is the second Malawian to sign for the Eastern Europe club after Bullets team-mate, defender Charles Petro.

The 20-year-old joined Bullets in 2019 having moved from youth league side, Griffin Young Stars in Blantyre.

He was the top scorer for Malawi under-17 national team at the Cosafa Youth Championship in 2015.

Banda was then promoted to the under-20 and 23 teams before making his way to the senior team.

Malawi now has four players in Europe football set up in addition to Fransisco Madinga who plays for Gori FC in Georgia and Cyprus-based Tawonga Chimodzi.
