Africa Soccer SOUTH AFRICA : POLOKWANE CITY SIGN MALAWIAN PLAYMAKER

South Africa’s second tier GladAfrica Championship side, Polokwane City FC, has roped in exciting Malawian playmaker, Mike Mkwate.

Mkwate has joined the Limpopo Province-based team from Malawi Super League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets.

Bullets website says the 23-year-old midfielder has signed a two-and-a half year contract with Polokwane.

The Flames international is scheduled to leave for South Africa on Friday, 12th February 2021, to join his new club.

Mkwate has always been committed and contributed immensely to the success of Bullets since joining The People’s Team from Wizards FC in 2016. The central midfielder helped the club win the Carlsberg Cup in 2017, before winning the TNM Super League in 2018 and 2019,” the website says.

Mkwate, who has represented Malawi at the under-23 level, joins at Polokwane compatriots Chembezi Denis and Khuda Muyaba.

Two years ago, Mkwate attended trials at Buildcon FC in Zambia but he did not secure a deal.

Polokwane should be hoping for a big contribution from the Malawian in the GladAfrica Championship.

The club is struggling placed on position 11 with 13 points from 13 games on the 16-member log table, seven points behind leaders, Sukhukhune United.
