AFCON UNDER-20 AFCON: BURKINA FASO SET TO SEIZE GROUP B LEADERSHIP FROM CAR

Central African Republic (CAR) welcome Burkina Faso today at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Mauritania.

Burkina Faso will certainly be looking forward toppling the Group B leaders from the summit at the tournament.

The Junior Stallions’ coach Oscar Barro has since urged his charges to go for maximum points in this clash.

Burkina Faso started the group’s matches with a goalless draw against Tunisia on Monday afternoon.

On the other hand, CAR also shared the spoils with Namibia to go top of the group on goal-aggregate.

Before the tournament, the West Africans played friendlies against Gambia and Cameroon.

Burkina Faso lost 2-1 to Gambia on February 9 five days after playing out to a goalless draw against Cameroon.

 

In the opening matches, Cameroon made a winning start when beating the hosts Mauritania 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium in Nouakchott on Sunday night.

In another game for Group A, Mozambique lost 2-0 to Uganda on Monday.

The tournament will run from February 14 to March 6 2021.
