Egypt Premier League champions, Al Ahly, have trashed talk that they on the market seeking to buy strikers.

Of late, the CAF Champions League holders have been linked with strikers such as Gaston Sirino of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane used to coach the South African champions; hence the reports have been suggesting that there could be a possible reunion.

However, Al Ahly Director of Marketing and Transfers, Amir Tawfik, has told the club’s website that the club has not entered into negotiations to sign new strikers—either Egyptians or foreigners.

Al Ahly’s first-team is stable on all levels and we have amazing players in every position. Our focus is on making everything perfect for the team to keep fighting for more titles in both domestic and African competitions. All the news that linked Al Ahly with signing new players are totally untrue. We are far from the end of the season.”

“Signing new players at Al Ahly goes through certain standards after evaluating the situation from every angle at the end of the season. The coaching staff discusses their vision with the planning committee, in coordination with the club President Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, who is in charge of this file.”

“We have not discussed signing new players in any position in the current period. Our main mission now is to support the team to maintain the successful run and achieve the ambitions of our fans after winning the treble last season as well as the bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup.”

Ahly face Simba SC away in Tanzania in a Champions League clash later on Tuesday.
