Following his skinny playing time this season, the captaincy of Hlompho Kekana with Mamelodi Sundowns is being questioned as Ricardo Nascimiento and Mosa Lebusa wore the armband recently.
Asked over the captaincy role amid Brazilians, Mamelodi Sundowns manager reassured that veteran player Kekana who is 35, is still the club’s captain.
“Sundowns’ captain is Hlompho Kekana,” Mngqithi told the media after the game against Leopards, as per Kickoff.

“We don’t have any vice-captain or whatever, we just make a call when we feel it’s necessary. We have had Ricardo Nascimento a lot, now Ricardo is out.
“We could easily have Denis Onyango but Denis is always coming from far and we are trying to save him from all these runs to referees and all that because we want him to work a little more economically and focus on what is expected of him.
“The truth of the matter is the captain of this club is Hlompho Kekana”, he concluded.
