Bayern de Munich UEFA LEAGUE : Champions League exit annoying—Manuel Neur

PSG - Bayern

Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neur, has described the German giants exit from the Uefa Champions League as ‘annoying.’

The 1-0 is deserved, but the result last week was not good. It should have been better. It’s annoying,” Neuer told Bayern website.

The outgoing Uefa Champions League holders beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Tuesday night but lost the tie 3-2 on aggregate to bow out.

Bayern had lost 3-1 in the first leg of the quarter-final hence the exit despite winning on the night through Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s 40th minute goal.

Striker Thomas Muller echoed Nuer’s sentiments, saying:  “The disappointment is great. We put a lot of heart into it but scored one goal too few.”

Bayern coach Hansi Flick hailed his team for putting up a gallant effort.

“We saw what quality Paris have up front. However, I must still pay my team a compliment even though we’re leaving empty-handed. They were very focused and gave everything,” Flick said.

“The decisive factor was that Paris’ ruthlessness in the first leg was superior to ours. Nevertheless, I would like to emphasise again that my team tried everything over both games, fought and showed great mentality.”
