Nigeria Aribo Stars As Rangers Knock Celtic Out Of Scottish Cup

Nigerian international Joe Aribo provided was in action for  Rangers FC who defeated Scottish Cup holders Celtic 2-0 at Ibrox to reach the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Manager Steven Gerrard made one change from the side which defeated Hibernian last week in the Scottish Premier League with Kemar Roofe taking Scott Arfield place.

Allan MacGregor took his place  in goal with Nathan Patterson, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander and Borna Barisic in front of him.

Arfield joined Glen Kamara and Steven Davis in the middle of the park.

Aribo and Ryan Kent played in support of Alfredo Morelos who led the attack.

Both teams observed a minute of silence in remembrance of  the life of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

It was a cagey  opening stages minutes for both side but Rangers were in control of the game.

Aribo orchestrated the opening goal for the Gers just ten minutes of action as he drove down the right before cutting inside.

His deflected shot spun into the path of Steve Davis, who scored with an overhead kick from six-yards out to give Rangers the lead.

Rangers went on to double their lead in the 34th minute with  Jonjoe Kenny putting the ball into his own net. 

Aribo played for full time but was shown a yellow card in the 74th minute for a hard tackle.
