Egyptian Players abroad Mostafa Mohamed Likely To Miss Second Game In A Row With Galatasaray

Galatasaray will meet Antalyaspor in Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. And Mostafa Mohamed is likely to be absent during the encounter.

The Egypt international Mostafa will thus miss his second game in a row with Galatasaray as he’s suspected to have tested positive for Covid-19.

Mohamed had an impressive start with Galatasaray since joining them on loan in January from Cairo giants Zamalek.

The 23-year-old managed to score six goals in his first six appearances in the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup. However, he hasn’t found the back of the net since his brace against Erzurumspor in February.

Since then he played five out of Galatasaray’s last seven games, helping get just one win. Mohamed was then left-out of against Göztepe last week after posting a tweet revealing that he tested positive for Covid-19. A post he then after removed.

Until now there isn’t any official confirmation as to why he missed both games. But most reports suggest that he caught the coronavirus. We will have to wait and see to find out if he will appear against Antalyaspor next Saturday.

Galatasaray currently sit third on the Turkish Super Lig table with 66 points, three away from the UEFA Champions League spots and six behind leaders Besiktas.

Mostafa Mohamed will most probably be Egypt’s main striker in the upcoming 2021 Tokyo Olympics football tournament. The Pharaohs were handed a tough draw as they were placed in the same group as Spain, Argentina and Australia.
