African players abroad PREMIER LEAGUE : Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ruled out of Everton game

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been ruled out of Friday’s Premier League clash against Everton.

Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta, told the club’s website that the captain for Gabon was still recovering from malaria.

Auba continues to recover after contracting malaria on international duty. Auba will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Everton, but is hoping to resume light training by the end of this week,” Arteta said.

The striker contracted malaria while back home on the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations duty earlier this month.
The Manager also said forward Alex Lacazette is unavailable for the game because of an injury.
Left hamstring. Alex has sustained a strain to his left hamstring and will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Everton. He will continue to work with the medical team and will be assessed ahead of next week’s matches,” Arteta said.

Other players ruled out of the game are David Luiz, Martin Odegaard and Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal and Everton are coming from 1-1 and 2-2 draws against Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

Everton are on position eight with 49 points whereas the Gunners are ninth with 46 points.
