Africa Soccer MALAWI : Bullets end Civil FC’s 12-game unbeaten run

TNM Super League defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets ended Civil Service United’s 12-game unbeaten run at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets came from behind to beat Civil 2-1 in the first-round match played on Saturday afternoon.

Left-back Precious Sambani scored the winner with two minutes to full-time after seasoned Chiukepo Msowoya had cancelled out Muhammad Sulumba’s opener for the Lilongwe-based Civil.

Bullets jumped by a step up to second place on the 16-member log table with 25 points from 12 games.

The 14-time champions are now three points behind leaders, Silver Strikers, who were not in action on Saturday.

Civil have since moved down by a step to position three with 24 points from 13 games.

There is now no unbeaten team in the Malawi top tier league in this 2020/21 season.

In other games, Moyale Barracks FC made it three wins on the trot when they beat bottom-placed Mzuzu Warriors 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium also on Saturday.

Lloyd Njaliwa scored the only goal of the game for the ninth-placed Moyale who have 18 points from 13 games.

Warriors have now lost over three consecutive games. They have eight points from 12 games.

Elsewhere, Gregory Nachipo scored as Kamuzu Barracks edged out Chitipa United 1-0.
