Dstv Premiership AmaZulu Coach Benni McCarthy Has Praised His Team For Being Special

AmaZulu have stunned all and sundry after rising to within a point of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. This after winning 11 and drawing four from their last 15 games. As Usuthu have thrushed Cape Town City 5-1 in  DStv Premiership on Wednesday.

This means from the last 45 points that have been available to play for they have picked up 37 and thus risen to second. And they started making Sundowns constantly look over their shoulders towards the finish line.

This team is special. And if one day when I am an old man sitting at home, I will always remember this AmaZulu team for how proud I was and what these players have achieved individually, and what they are achieving as a team. I am grateful and happy.” Said McCarthy after he made easy work of his former employers Cape Town City on Wednesday.

AmaZulu will now finish with both their highest points tally and highest position ever in topflight football.

You know they are on the brink of making history by becoming the first AmaZulu team to go so many games unbeaten and so many games getting stronger and stronger.” He added.

I am super proud of this team and really cannot wait to see what we can achieve if we are together. I hope we keep our focus and maintain humbleness.

Just because we won today doesn’t mean we have achieved anything yet. We are still six [five] games away from achieving what we want. But today is a moment for celebrations and to reflect.

“Today I am proud of every player in this team. We played the perfect game. But again we conceded, so I am not sure if Veli (Mothwa) will be too happy with conceding the goal. And I think we also gave a soft penalty away, which we can avoid.

“With all that said we were excellent with our work rate, desire, hunger to achieve was just incredible. The hard work doesn’t stop. Because on Saturday we go again against Golden Arrows. So we look forward to that.” He ended.
