Algeria CAF CUP : Mayuka’s goal not enough for Napsa Stars

Former Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka’s goal was not enough to save Zambia’s Napsa Stars from defeat on Wednesday.

Mayuka scored the consolation goal for Napsa on the stroke of full-time as they lost 2-1 to JS Kabylie from Algeria in the Confederation Cup group stage match.

Walid Bencherifa put Kabyline ahead in the 29th minute before Kouceila Boualia added the second goal in the 57th minute.

Napsa have finished the group campaign bottom with four points and are out of the race.

Kabylie and Cotonsport have advanced to the quarter-final of the continental competition.

It was also bad Wednesday for Zambia leadgue champions, Nkana FC, who lost 2-0 to Moroccan side, Raja Casablanca, in a group D game.

Raja won the game through goals from Idbouiguiguine and Sadaoui to claim 18 points.

Nkana are out of the running having finished on third place with six points.

Elsewhere, Egyptian side Pyraminds beat Tanzania’s Namungo 1-0 to finish on second place with 12 points.

Pryamids and  Raja have advanced to the quarter finals.
