Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : Sundowns drop points, AmaZulu close gap

South Africa league champions Mamelodi Sundowns dropped more points in a goalless draw against Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

The draw enabled second-placed AmaZulu to close the gap on the log leaders.

Sundowns were smarting from a 2-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend.

Sundowns have 48 points from 23 games, one point behind AmaZulu who have played two more games.

The latest game for AmaZulu was on Wednesday when they thrashed Cape Town City 5-1.  

Arrows are on third place with 43 points from 25 games while Chiefs remain on ninth place with 28 points from 23 matches.

Chiefs failed to build on their win over Sundowns when they lost 1-0 to Chippa United also on Wednesday.

Cameroonian striker Eva Nga scored the lone goal after pouncing on a misplaced back pass.

It was a winning start for Chippa’s new technical advisor Vladislav Heric.

He admitted that his team was lucky to beat Chiefs.

“The game started sluggish for us, we felt the consequences of being on airport the whole day yesterday, we definitely could not move first-half,” Heric told SuperSport TV.

The first 20 to 25 minutes definitely we could not move, I was afraid if they score one, two, three goals we’re definitely dead.”

Elsewhere, TS Galaxy beat Baroka FC 1-0 on Wednesday evening courtesy of full-back Ebrahim Seedat late strike.
