African players abroad ZAMBIA : Chipolopolo duo bask in Salzburg cup win

Zambians Enock Mwepu and Patson Daka helped Red Bull Salzburg to win the Austrian Cup on Saturday.

The Austrian champions thrashed LASK 3-0 to lift the trophy with winger Mwepu among the scorers.

Just before half-time, Berisha scored the opening goal with Daka providing an assist.

Half-time ended with Salzburg leading 1-0.

Dominik Thalhammer’s side came back onto the pitch looking to get back on level terms.

Then Mwepu was involved in the second goal which Brenden scored in the 67th minute.

Salzburg should have added more goals.

Berisha earned Salzburg a penalty after being brought down by Andrade but goalkeeper Schlager was able to keep out Daka’s spot kick using his feet.

With two minutes to full time, Mwepu finally scored.

Substitute Karim Adeyemi sprinted down the flank and slide the ball across for Mwepu to bundle it in for 3-0.

In a post-match interview, Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch said: The opening goal was very important! That allowed us to apply more and more power in the second half, and we got more chances as a result. We defended really well for the whole game and played very well. I am really pleased for the boys to have won this trophy!
