African players abroad ZAMBIA : Gerrard’s Rangers sign striker Sakala in fashion

Zambian striker Fashion Sakala has signed a four-year contract with Scottish giants, Rangers FC.

Sakala will join Rangers next season from Belgian side, KV Oostende.

The transfer is subject to Sakala securing a work permit and an international clearance in Scotland.

His transfer is part of Manager Steven Gerrard’s planning for the 21/22 season.

The 24-year-old has been in form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 29 games in the Belgian top-flight club.

“Powerful and pacey, Sakala will add to the increased competition in the forward area of the pitch for Steven Gerrard’s Champions of Scotland,” Rangers website reports.

In reaction, Sakala said: “I am very much excited to start this exciting journey with Rangers. It has been one of my dreams, and I feel like this is a dream come true to join Rangers – one of the greatest clubs in the world.

“They have a great fanbase and a great history, and I believe we will share great memories together.”

Sakala follows Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi in making the journey to Ibrox from the Jupiler Pro League.
