CAF Champions League CAF Appoints South Africa Ref For Enyimba, Pyramid Tie

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed South African referee Victor Gomes as the centre referee for the first leg quarter final of the CAF Confederation Cup between Nigeria’s representative Enyimba international and FC Pyramids of Egypt.

Enyimba defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the last Group A match to top the group and were pitched against Egyptian side Pyramid FC in the quarterfinals.

Gomes will be assisted by his compatriots, Zakeli Soyza and Alsinkosi Nudjeni, while Thando Nazandinka will serve as the fourth referee.

The South African official is known to be devoted to his duty after he  reported turned down the $30,000 Plateau United offered him to swing the match against Algerian side, USM Alger, in their favour.

Jamal Salem and Essam Sharafuddin of Libya will serve as the match assessors.

The first leg of the knockout phase on 16th May 2021 is scheduled for the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo behind closed doors.

Enyimba will then host their opponen on May 23 at the Enyimba international Stadium, Aba.

The Nigeria representatives failed to get a win or draw away in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
