Zamalek SC have lodged a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) accusing Al Ahly fans of intimidation in Monday’s game that ended 1-1.

Zamalek have confirmed on their website to have complained to the committee that is running EFA over that atmosphere during the Cairo derby.

The memorandum of protest and Zamalek’s complaint included the objection to the excess numbers of fans who attended the match, and confirmed that Zamalek refused to play the match except after the exit of those numbers that Al-Ahly management allowed their attendance despite the matches being held without fans, and that it responded to the match observer’s request to run the match while proving the incident with his report until not Zamalek provokes crises for Egyptian football and played the match normally.

“The memorandum also included a monitoring of insults, slander and bullying from the audience towards the players of Zamalek during the two halves of the match, especially the captain of the team, Mahmoud Abdel-Razek “Shikabala”.

“The club management called on the Football Association to investigate and take the necessary measures to ensure that the rights of the clubs are preserved, and that such matters are not repeated in the coming period,” Zamalek statement reads.

Salah Mohsen gave Al Ahly the in the 73rd minute only for Zamalek to pull level through Ferjani Sassi six minutes later.

Al Ahly have two games in hand and trail the leaders Zamalek by four points.

After the game, Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane, questioned the timing of the match amid reports that he is under pressure.

 “Al Ahly is the only team that represents Egypt in the CAF Champions League and we should have everyone’s support. We shouldn’t face Zamalek SC now,” he told Al Ahly website.
